Bio

Starting in August 2019, I will be an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Southern Utah University. Until then, I am finishing up my PhD at Northwestern University.

I am interested in how communication works–and how it goes wrong–especially in non-ideal circumstances. I use tools from linguistic pragmatics to understand various phenomena: the role of power in communication, discursive injustice, and the communication of consent.

But I don’t like to spend all my time on philosophy. I also enjoy cooking and eating good food, playing with my cat Coleslaw, exploring Chicago, coordinating and participating in healthy socialization for myself and other philosophers, and watching TV.
